Art: Allium in Blue by Artist Deanne Flouton
Sometimes it is difficult to make a decision about an image, and such was the case when creating a new digital painting of an Alium, a.k.a. garlic and/or chives for the Allium show. It finally boiled down to 2 categories, represented by color: Blue and Yellow. These images belong to the Blue category.

This group of Allium or Wild Garlic are common to the Mediterranean where the flowerhead grows on stems up to a yard in height. The root, or bulb itself, is found growing nearly three quarters above ground, usually sandwiched in between rocks, clay and rough terrain along the shore of the sea. They were created in this style for decorative purposes and do not necessarily reflect their true color although some of the natural color does come through in places.

Instead of illustrating detailed images I have chosen to show variations on the theme, for the sake of decorative styles and creativity. The last image represents the original for comparison.

Each version was created and processed through both Photoshop and Studio Artist to achieve the final effects. The original image from which these were drawn is the last one. Which one is your favorite?
