This is a portrait of a young lady who has read many, many good books and continues to read voraciously. Reading is such a strong part of her identity that I chose to portray her sitting atop a pile of books that she has made her own (like a big game hunter posing with his prey).

Look closely, you will see that her perch is comprised of a stack of larger than life books. The top book is Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer, followed by Harry Potter, and The Chronicles of Narnia.
