This beautiful batik egg was made using the traditional Pysanky technique of wax and dye on a real blown blue duck egg shell, which is sealed with a coat of archival, industrial grade UV resistant, crystal clear finish. It measures approximately 2 5/8 inches tall.

The process begins by meticulously measuring and drawing out the design in pencil before it goes through a process of waxing and dyeing. Etching technique is used to create the raised borders and create a three dimensional effect.

The design features four panels of the softest pale purple flowers and little flower buds. Blackberry Dream is the latest design in my popular Florals series!

As you can see from my eggs I don't closely follow traditional designs, but I do take things here and there and add a bit of myself to them. The floral series is all about the celebration of Spring, flowers reflect all that is feminine, wisdom, elegance and beauty. The meanders are around the divisions represent to me the continual motion of the seasons, that winter's grip is not forever! I also use a garland or vine like design within the blue borders, they are said to represent the garlands worn by Ukrainian girls during celebrations. The colours all have symbolism as well, each one can have several meanings. Yellow I think of as the colour of the sun, green is fertility, spring, freshness and blue as the colour of the skies.

As with all my eggs, yours will come with a FREE lacquered, dark wooden or Queen Ann style gold stand (horizontal stand not available) and for a limited time the Easter tin shown will also be included.
