Artist comment: "On a cool non-objective background, I sketched a fully open stalk of peach colored gladiolus. First, I chose 140# hot-pressed watercolor paper by Arches. Then I washed in the flowers carefully, layer upon layer, to build up the deeper tones, leaving areas of lightest lights to later paint the higher values."
