Many moons ago I had a boyfriend who loved his Harley. Uwe and I went everywhere on that bike, no matter what the weather was. We lived in San Francisco and took many weekend journeys here and there, even in the rain. I froze my butt off on that thing. I used to hard-boil eggs before we'd go on a long journey so my hands wouldn't freeze. Uwe would wear his leather pants and jacket, but I refused to wear leather pants, so I did my best to tolerate the cold in my jeans. I must have looked quite a sight in my big parka and winter boots, holding hot hard-boiled eggs in my mittened hands. Oh well, I developed a fondness for the big old Harley and I've got some memories. This drawing was never finished, but the relationship ended in 1994 so I let it be.
My goal was to get as much detail in as possible and to add a background - we were camping when I started the sketch. If you look at the left side of the bike vs. the right, there is more detail - more shadowing and shading making it look more like a 3-dimensional object. Unfortunately, I didn't put the time into adding details to the front wheel and window to make it a complete drawing. The moment has long been broken and I have no desire to see it through. It has been returned to the portfolio of forgotten work.
