Art: Ready and Waiting by Artist Pamela Bevelhymer

I love the way these plants look so inviting, yet they are dangerous. They represent a temptation in life. It's so beautiful and inviting but if you go in, it will kill you.

This carnivorous plant is called a Nepenthes Truncata, Monkey Cup. It is also refered to as a Pitcher Plant. This plant is from S.E. Asia. Nepenthes are found in places as far and wide as North Australia, Madagascar, India, Sri Lanka, Borneo, New Guinea, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as on many islands & lands around the Pacific Ocean.

The plant grows as a climbing or scrambling vine. The plant has two types of traps: lower and upper.

I made this picture by cloning the one Monkey Cup and changing the levels until I liked what I saw. The Hue, Contrast and shadows needed to be adjusted. Then I did many multiple effects in my CS3 such as Liquify, Angled Strokes, Masking, Paint Brush and Splatter effects.
