"Canrivorous Greenhouse" - an original acrylic painting on wood!
I have long been fascinated with carnivorous plants - perhaps because I'm a vegetarian, hehe! In this piece you will find a dark beauty in a gothic Victorian greenhouse - surrounded by all varieties of carnivorous plants - Venus Flytraps, Pitcher Plants, all kinds are featured! The columns in the frame and the "window" detail showing the night sky at the top really give this painting a "greenhouse" type feel! If you look closely, the girl's dress has some Venus Flytrap-like qualities to it as well. This was created for the EBSQ Carnivorous Plants Show!
My husband Matty custom handcrafted the panel & frame out of wood and resin! I then hand painted all of the metallic copper & patina details on the mouldings/framing & trim & columns myself. It was a joy to work on this project and I am very proud of it.
