This particular painting is one of my favorites. It was one of the first paintings I did when I moved back to Manhattan and when I look at it now I can still feel my own frenetic energy as I re-adjusted to life in the Village. There is a pulse to the planes that seems to simultaneously push and pull at me emotionally but the warmth of the colors keep drawing me back in. And the deep textures that developed in this piece were equally compelling for me, they were like claw marks from something alive deep inside the canvas that was trying to get out and I just kept pushing until I finally felt that it was done.
