This is part of an abstract series that I have been exploring for over a year. The series is generally classified by compartmentalized areas of vivid color and texture blended down and blurred to a point where boundary lines are often indistinguishable. In a very abstract way, both literally and figuratively, these paintings, to me, speak to some of the social and cultural issues of our times.

This is one of my favorite pieces of the series. It was one of the first paintings I did when I moved back to Manhattan and when I look at it now I can still feel my own frenetic energy as I re-adjusted to life in the Village. There is a pulse to the planes that seems to simultaneously push and pull at me emotionally but the warmth of the colors keep drawing me back in. The way the lines blur down and colors begin to overflow their boundaries, more so than in the pieces prior to this one, was significantly influenced by the recent changes in my life.
