Tamara Lempicka allowed herself to sit under only 2 teachers, Maurice Denis and Andre’ Lhote. I think the textural nuance found in most of her painting could be attributed to Denis, however most powerful influence I see in Lempicka work is that of Andre’ Lhote. he and Lempicka seem to share a delicate technique of simplification of the human body into a series of boxes,cyclinders and circles. Beautiful, elegant and seamless application lends itself to near flawless movement in the portrayal of what otherwise appears to be still figures.
