Emergent

- by Roberta Maria Atti

This week's theme: Roses

Red roses, white roses, yellow and pink. Some are small and dainty, some large and showy and some are meant for tissue paper and an elegant box.

Art: Emergent by Artist Roberta Maria Atti
This bouquet is called "Roses Emerge" because it looks like these beauties are manifesting, as if by magic, out of a bright light. I achieve this visual effect through a series of carefully orchestrated light inversions in Photoshop. In life, as in photography, I like inverting things. Turn positive to negative, back and forth, and watch what happens. All of a sudden we find light where we thought was darkness and viceversa. How paradoxical...how so much like everything else in life, including ourselves. Aside from any philosophical inquiry inspired by my artistic sense, which is an analysis at "fait accomplit", I would say that the Pretty Rose, a.k.a. Miss New York State, turns out rather well when I use this technique, or, at least, I think so.
