They are named for the sun. Their symmetry is based on Fibonacci numbers. They are native to the Americas, but have traveled widely and have captured the eyes and imagination of people all over the world.

Red Chard is the leafy top of a beet plant.Their huge, flambouyant green leaves with contrasting red stems always beckon me at the local farmer market. Red chard is the star of the show in one of my favorite "quick fix" meals.
