Pale Green Eyes (with original Strangeling Frame)

- by Jasmine Ann Becket-Griffith

This week's theme: Gothic

In art, Gothic runs the gamut from romantic depictions of fantasy creatures - vampires, fairies, ghosts, etc., to the erotic. Like gothic literature, it can be dark and gloomy, but that isn't always the case. Often artists portray their subjects with vivd colours, humor and whimsy. This week, Art Of The Day offers a small sampling of what EBSQ artists have created in this genre.

Art: Pale Green Eyes (with original Strangeling Frame) by Artist Jasmine Ann Becket-Griffith
About the painting: This is my latest painting - "Pale Green Eyes" is the title - a portrait of a delicate beauty of a mermaid with pale, almost glowing green eyes and dark hair..... This is the ORIGINAL PAINTING itself. About the FRAME: I am VERY proud of this original picture frame. My husband Matt made it out of a SINGLE PIECE of solid poplar wood (environmentally selected). The frame is very ornate, SOLID WOOD - no plastic or resin/foam - this is all wood. Two of my mermaids are carved at the bottom to make the base, with and ornate circular frame. The frame is all one solid piece. One of the most beautiful picture frames I've ever seen (I'm so proud of Matt!) I have finished the frame with an antiqued copper leaf & patina finish and it is goreous. Check out the pictures!
