I think one of the most challenging projects an artist can come up with is a self portrait. For once, I had to determine how I see myself and how I wanted to present myself.
I chose to present myself as I tend to be when I'm extremely involved in a piece of art I am working on. I tend to have a glazed look hehe and if anybody where to try and talk to me, I would most probably be oblivious to that person.
I also chose to support my image with works from my collegiate past and more recent figurative work. I think all my past artistic explorations in learning from the Old Masters, contempory artists and instructors I respect and my continuous curiosity about learning something are significant to the longevity of my art career. And the drapery? Well it's to support me when I simply want take a nap to re-energize (it's a cozy throw blanket too!) ;)
