Started sketching but could not find anything that got me going. I was in an artist block! The worst feeling an artist can have, just staring at a blank page. It took about a couple of weeks but I was listening to the CD “Fallen” from Evanescence, by the way I love her music and it started me going.
Since I was a kid, I love bugs. Any bug for the matter of fact, fascinates me. While listening to the music, I created this gothic bug called “Jane.” I have a dear friend who’s name is Jane and I thought I would honor her by giving this little bug her name.
Once I sketched her, I scan it to my PC and start working on her in Adobe Illustrator. This is the program of my choice and enjoy very much. The beauty about the program I can bring to any size a person desires and she still looks great. I love to test every color before I use it on the design. Usually I make a grid of color that I would like to use and print them before I create the subject. To print my subject, I use an Epson Stylus 2200 and ultrachrome inks with a 310gsm fine art paper. Usually, I use either Moab or Hahnemuhle papers which are my favorites.
I hope you enjoy this piece.
Thank you for looking,
