Since I was a kid I have been very scared by dragonflies only because someone had told me they poke your eyes..... I have known for years it is not true, but yet I never felt really comfortable around them as well as any bug. I moved to FL in 2001 and this is bug-land compared to what I have always been used to. It has taken a good dose of self-control and discipline to win my fears but now I do like dragonflies! I actually think they are really cool and nearly as beautiful as butterflies! (the only bugs I always loved). This painting was done on thick and smooth watercolor paper. I stamped the dragonfly first. Then I wrote DREAM and did the swirly frame with masking fluid and I painted with watercolors. When dry, I removed the masking fluid and voila'! Peace done with the dragonflies :-)
