I love insects, especially moths! The beautiful white-lined sphinx hummingbird moth was my inspiration for this piece.
The hummingbird moth is a very interesting insect, often mistaken for a hummingbird because of its huge size, color, movement and the humming sound it makes. And, unlike most moths, it will fly during the daylight.
This piece is one of my very favorite paintings. I plan to continue the series with many more insect maidens.
