Peaches Batik I is an original batik on paper by M Baldwin, c2006. Original is SOLD and in a private collection.
I live in Northwest Louisiana and near a small town of Ruston, La. The town is known for the Ruston Peach Festival, held each year during the summer months. I was honored to be the Artist in Residence in the year of 1996, where my art was captured on fine art prints, signed and dated by me at a signing party and then distributed for sale to raise money for non profit organizations in the area. I have always thought of that honor each time I bite down on a Louisiana Peach from Ruston, the home of my University, La. Tech University. I received my BFA there in 1974.
Peaches will forever be a favorite food of mine. Here I completed this painting using watercolor and a batik technique on bristol board paper, all the while remembering that sweet time in my life.... full of Ruston La. Peaches. It was a yummy year. ~ To Enjoy a Fresh Ruston Peach, SIMPLY Rinse, Cut, and EAT.. no sugar needed, They are sweeter than Honey ! ~ Marcia, artist.
