Executed in watercolor and enhanced with gold water based ink, this sensuous interpretation of a peach is inspired by both antique botanical prints and illuminated manuscripts of old. I enjoy looking at books and prints of flora and fauna, and I am always amazed at all the detail down to the tiniest seed. I am particularly drawn to the portion of an image which shows the inside of the fruit revealing the secretive seeds or stones within. The mystery of the interior is what inspired me to focus on painting this revealing view of the pit surrounded by a deep reddish color fading to a more delicate flesh color.
