This painting was inspired by my two wolf dogs at play. On the left  is Thor, a wolfdog hybrid (mostly wolf) and  Goldie, also a wolfdog. The name Thor was chosen because of his wolf heritage; it seemed an appropriate name for such a creature.

 The name Thor, in Norse mythology is associated with thunder & lightning, oak trees which symbolize  strength, and the protection of mankind, among other things.. Our home is surrounded by huge live oaks which are often struck by lightning. Thor is my protector and soulmate. Thor is a prominently mentioned god throughout the recorded history of the Germanic people.

Both animals are rescued. They are a joy to live with and their play is very entertaining. It is a  balance of  aggression or dominance and submission. We have almost nightly howl sessions, which I join in.
