This work in progress was originally meant for a portrait swap show here on EBSQ in 2006 with my friend and fellow artist Kelly Brand. I had a lovely reference photo of Kelly and her beloved dog Barkley outdoors and decided that would make a nice composition. I was happy with the charcoal sketch, and then as often happens, fear set in when it came to actually putting oil paint to canvas, as I'm not a typical portrait painter. This piece got set aside, and there you go. My resolution for 2008? Get over the fear, and finish this piece!
