I was selected to create a frog to be included in a local public art project (East Moline Centennial "Frogs-A-Hoppin"). This frog is enormous, and took approximately 160 hours to complete. During the project, I updated a "Frog Log" on my website so my viewers could see as he progressed.
The fiberglass frog was blank, primed with white primer, when I began this project. He is now adorned with thousands of small hand-broken, extremely reflective, metallic tiles in a design that is realistic yet playful. I also used three different colors in grout, gray to bring out his eyes, bone for his body, and mocha for his underbelly and behind his back legs. This makes him appear as though he is sitting in a puddle!
