This was painted for the Still Life Challenge on EBSQ's Still Life Forum. The challenge was to use one of your favorite still life artists as the inspiration to create a painting of your own.

I chose Gustav Likan as my inspiration. He uses vivid and saturated color, and also employs a style of layering areas of transparent color on the canvas.

In my painting I used the saturated color that I love, but I was not so successful in re-creating the layered style that I admire so much. I guess it's just not the way I see things. Oh well, I am pleased with the result anyway.
