I chose this piece because the strong contrasts of light and shadow, and diagonal and vertical lines were simply too good to pass up. Who would have expected so much rhythm and movement in a marsh? It reminded me of music on a page.
My simplified version plays up the abstract quality of Kevin's photo. I loved painting the long colorful strokes for the verticals and the staccato strokes for the slanting diagonals.
