Sunflower Ladybug Vignette

This week's theme: Helianthus

They are named for the sun. Their symmetry is based on Fibonacci numbers. They are native to the Americas, but have traveled widely and have captured the eyes and imagination of people all over the world.



I love bats.  With their astoundingly voracious appetite for mosquitoes, they may be one of the most useful critters on earth.  They're the only mammal that truly flies.  And the variety within the species is amazing: there are little teeny tiny bats with wingspans less than one inch, and great big HUGE bats with six FOOT wingspans.  Wow.

The bat in this pendant necklace has a wingspan of 3-1/2", and dangles from a chain that makes a 21-1/2" necklace. 

I toyed with the idea of a larger bat, but it didn't seem practical.  Still ......
