When Pigs Fly

- by Sherry Key

This week's theme: The Usual

There are things and places in this world that aren't what we consider usual. In reality, much of what we consider unusual isn't out of the ordinary. If we pause long enough to take in what's around us, if we allow ourselves to focus on the thoughts and images that are always moving through our mind, it will become obvious that "usual" is nothing but a thin veneer.

Art: When Pigs Fly by Artist Sherry Key
When pigs fly,
my oh my,
what a sight that will be in the sky.

An impossibility? An adynaton, a hyperbole?
Well if it is a possibility,
I'm hoping I'll be the first to see.

Per Wikipedia:

"The phrase "When pigs fly" is an adynaton- - a figure of speech so hyperbolic that it describes an impossibility. The implication of such a phrase is that the circumstances in question (the adynaton, and the circumstances to which the adynaton is being applied) will never occur."

(Made this original little artwork to take to auction at my family reunion to raise money for the next year. We've been having this reunion for over 41 years now, wow!))
