This week's theme: Helianthus

They are named for the sun. Their symmetry is based on Fibonacci numbers. They are native to the Americas, but have traveled widely and have captured the eyes and imagination of people all over the world.

Created for ebsq's Flower-of-the-Month show, December 2004. Poinsettias come in a huge array of colors, so I "planted" a variety of these same colors on my palette and went from there... I created this work in what some might call my trademark style: bright colors, high contrast, and glowing edges.
