Art: SOLD - Flamingos in the Kitchen by Artist Shawn Marie Hardy
These wild birds are just getting ready for tea. They're as graceful indoors as they are outside. O.K. so they're not in the wild, nor are they in their usual places of captivity - but wouldn't it be wild to see a pink kitchen full of pink flamingos? With images of pink flamingos adorning the fridge, the wall, & the table?

The original image, from which these birds were taken, was shot at the Milwaukee Zoo, using a vintage Minolta CLE with a rangefinder lens. This camera was made in 1981 and I took many glorious shots with it before it's life ended in the Gulf of Mexico as I stooped down to shoot some sea anemones. Unfortunately, this was not one of the better shots, but I wanted to do something with birds, so I cut them out in Photoshop, enhanced their color, then duplicated and rotated a couple of them so they're facing the other direction. I used a kitchen scene from a 1950's Better Homes and Gardens magazine as the background, dotted images around the room of the very same flamingos that are the focal point of this collage, added a bouquet to the table, and gave them a story to tell. I've included the original photo so you can see the actual birds.

Enjoy!
