Art: OL' RAY by Artist Debi Hubbs
Ol’ Ray There’s trouble in the kitchen, this hot and humid day. Pecking, dodging, fleeing, this is the end for Rooster Ray. But then, the big chase ended, when Ray began to pout. He looked Chef eye to eye, and said without a doubt. “Don’t just plop me in the pot! I can think of nothing worse... You should marinate me for a while with sauce and spices first!” “And while I’m roasting, don’t forget to baste me, you big cretin! It’ll make me much more succulent and tender when I’m eaten.” “Now, I am a little scrawny, but in places rather plump, so allow some extra cooking time for my chest, my thighs and rump.” “Be sure to cook my giblets too, they’re really quite nutritious, and I strongly recommend my gizards, they should be most delicious!” Well, Chef found this rather odd, to get this kind suggestion. Most victims only want to give him lots of indigestion. He said to Ray, ”I think your right, you are a special treat.” Chef smiled now as he began to butter ol’ Ray’s feet. A second later Ray spurred him hard, slashed him right across the nose! Then he jumped, and yelled to Chef “You should have closed the windows!”
