Sunflower Ladybug Vignette

- by Pamela K Wilhelm

This week's theme: Helianthus

They are named for the sun. Their symmetry is based on Fibonacci numbers. They are native to the Americas, but have traveled widely and have captured the eyes and imagination of people all over the world.

This necklace is a pleasing mix of shell dagger, rounded fire polished Czech glass drops, 8mm amber Swarovski crystals, and assorted Czech fire polished spacers is brought to a smashing finish by a lovely enameled copper toggle closure by Duluth artist Sarah Lukkonen of C-Koop beads. This necklace is 18' long.

In order to preserve the integrity of my jewelry I always line the bead holes (and in some cases whole beads) with size 15 seed beads. This, in addition to using wire guardians at the clasp, insures that the stringing medium is not in contact with the materials and goes a long way to insure a stable piece that should last many years given proper care. I use .018 49 strand C-Flex coated stringing wire for this and all pieces.

This work is for sale and listed in my finished jewelry shop on ETSY
