SUMMER KITE FLIGHT

- by RUTH J JAMIESON

This week's theme: Go Fly A Kite

Kites have been around for thousands of years. Kites have had and continue to have practical uses. They have found applications in everything from the military to meteorology. They are often found in cultural and religious celebrations. And kites can of course be found on beaches, in fields or anywhere on a breezy day that is open to the sky.

Learn more about the history and types of kites, how they are used and how to make your own kite.

Art: SUMMER KITE FLIGHT by Artist RUTH J JAMIESON
This unique, beautiful kite flies high, in a clear summer sky. The light, shape and exuberant movement made me feel that this image was more about the flying than the kite itself. The colour of the sky reminded me of high summer. From all of these prompts came the title, Summer Kite Flight. A new Apophysis flame is a new adventure. I often change the background colours several times to gain insight into what it is this particular flame should become. When I changed the background on this one to this beautiful sky blue, the goal became clear. With a few manipulations of the triangles this ethereal, fantastic kite came into being. To create Summer Kite Flight, I opened a random Apo flame and checked all the variations on the list. Then I tried some of the deviations of those. The background colour was changed several times. Finally I worked with the triangles until I achieved this image.
