Mountain Stream Pool

- by Robin Cruz McGee

This week's theme: Creeks and Streams

If you're a kid, having a creek close to where you live is like winning the lottery. Rocks to climb over and turn over, sticks to poke things with, dams to build, insects, all kinds of animals, mud - what more can any nine year old ask for? As grown-ups may not think as much about the magic of slippery banks, water falls, small, still pools created by a build up of rocks, sticks and other things floating down stream, but when we find ourselves in the presence of such wonders we discover that nine really isn't that far away.

Cool places exist, places where the tumbling water comes to rest for a moment before moving on. Fish hide in the shadows and moss clutches the scattered boulders. Feel the crispness of the water, the sharpness of the sand. Hear the whisper of  the rapids, making its way to the faraway sea. All is peaceful.
