Sunflower Ladybug Vignette

- by Pamela K Wilhelm

This week's theme: Helianthus

They are named for the sun. Their symmetry is based on Fibonacci numbers. They are native to the Americas, but have traveled widely and have captured the eyes and imagination of people all over the world.

This painting is based upon one of my photographs taken out West. I love the intense blues of the sky with the contrast of the clouds. I'm entering it into this show to prove that a horizon can be implied, as well as actual. You look at this painting and see a stone structure; what's on the other side? Perhaps the "real" horizon. You could also consider the rocks to be a horizon.
