Onions-A Rhythm Of Their Own

- by Sherry Key

This week's theme: Brown With An Anomaly

This week's theme is - for the most part, the colour brown. However, there is one piece that has no brown in it. It is connected to one of the other pieces by virtue of it's placement, but it was chosen first and neither piece was chosen because of the other. It's unplanned, kind of fun and rather obvious so it won't be hard to spot.

Art: Onions-A Rhythm Of Their Own by Artist Sherry Key
The lowly green onion. We think of the green onion as just green and white but everything in nature is really made up of many colors. These onions are still at this one moment of time, but moving in a slow rhythm of their own, in infinitely small steps, doing their own little dance.

I usually prefer to work in the humorous and surreal so this was a bit of a departure for me. I have always admired botanical artwork but have never really been motivated to try it. As usual, once I tried something new...I really like it and now I want to do more. For more detail, click on detailed images below.

Lots of details done in colored pencils and ink on bristol paper.
