Like my other pieces in the "My Clay" gallery (a take on "My Way", just for the record), this piece is made using real pearls, pink quartz, smoky topaz and other semi-precious stones, as well as Murano glass beads. The assembly is embedded in a special kind of Italian clay, one that I used to work with in school, during art class, and sealed with a coat of semi-glossy finish, in this case. The pinkness of this piece is so luscious that one feels a need to touch it, like baby's skin, but it doesn't come through quite as soft and fleshy in the photograph. So I concentrated on getting the brilliance of it, hoping to somewhat make up for the loss of its greatest quality.
I wish to dedicate this piece to Maria, my dear friend and sister, who is claiming her right to live and raise her children, in spite of breast cancer, with the courage and magnificence worthy of a great Queen.
A note regarding the donation: I certainly admire the intention and I would participate to this fund raising effort with more than $ 5, if I believed that a cure can be found through current approach to research. Unfortunately, I am convinced, we are looking in the wrong direction and many women will continue to suffer and die needlessly as a result of our well-intentioned, albeit misguided, use of resources. I have been a researcher myself, in the field of psychobiology, for almost 30 years, and I have come to this conclusions not without many sleepless nights spent reading, studying and verifying my findings. Sorry folks, we are on the wrong path. Anyone who cares to hear an explanation of my position is welcome to contact me through this site, or my other sites. THIS PIECE HAS BEEN SOLD.
