My husband and I were walking in the Borneo rain forest and came across this magical place which seemed untouched by time. A place of tranquility in an area which is rapidly changing and being destroyed. The background is appliquéd using a variety of fabrics to create the impression of the rich colours of the forest. The trees and plants are added using machine appliqué. Thread couching, machine embroidery and decorative quilting finish off the piece and add further texture and depth to the design.
