Art: Glass Head by Artist Renie Britenbucher
I have done mosaic work in the past and this was a product of that time. I wanted to do a face mosaic and decided I wanted it to be a 3-D piece. My images are very poor quality for this and I apologize. It was before I became "digitalized" and this was a very cheap digital camera so it has a very "pixley" appearance. I used a styrofoam head, commonly used for a wig stand (I think). I broke my own glass using mosaic cutters and cut tiny pieces and just did them as I went along. I also used broken china pieces, but mostly glass for this piece. I used two handles broken from china cups for the ears. The aqua-blue eyes were done from many tiny pieces of blue glass. Even the eyelids were formed by cutting tiny, line-sized black glass. It was fun to do!
