Art: Banjoman by Artist Michele Carra Milana
This exciting limited edition of 250 is the first in a series called "Musicians". "Banjoman" was modeled after my uncle, who holds a special place in my heart. Listen carefully - can you hear the happy chords & joyful melodies?! "Banjoman" will steal your heart !
"Banjoman" was created in hydrostone, a mixture of plaster and crushed stone, and finished with a bronze patina. The end result is a piece that looks and feels like bronze. The whole process took hours/weeks/months! as I researched the proper hand positions, took pictures, refined the sculpture, went back and checked again.
Then I carefully made a rubber mold. Liquid hydrostone was poured into the mold and allowed to harden. After it hardened it was dried in the oven. Finally, the patina was applied in a multi-step process involving bronze powder, oil paint, shellac & wax. Whew! Now he is here playing his melodies, looking for that perfect home.
