I've long enjoyed the work of western artists, and this piece was inspired by that body of work. I've always tended towards realism, and though the horse iteself in thie piece is quite realistic, the background and background geometry give the painting a unique warm surreal feel. The colors I used are often found in the works of Remington and Russell, and also great Western/Wildlife artists of today like Julie Chapman.
