As artists we are by definition voyeurs. We are condemned to look more closely at ourselves and our experiences, tear them apart then rebuild them in a way that hopefully satisfies us for a brief time, and share what we have accomplished with anyone wiling to look at him/herself through our art. As a photographic artist, I find it necessary to steal moments of truth from my subjects. I am moved by capturing moments of self examination on the part of my subjects. Moments that they themselves would not want recorded because they tell more about them than they want known. A successful self portrait should express the artist's philosophy through that piece of art. This photo was not made for this show but, I believe meets my criteria for my art. Both subjects represented.
