This is the first study of my face I have ever done in paint. It is not about beauty but about truth, as well as planes and values. I truly dislike looking at photos of myself, but I found that if I flipped the photo to make it look as if I had painted it while looking in the mirror, I was a lot more comfortable with my own image. So that's what I did and I took a lot of pleasure in painting this.
