This piece was done for EBSQ's Ripped 2006 Show... inspired by artist Tracey Allen Greene's "Bird, Tree, and Spirit Cat." I chose this particular piece of hers because I appreciated the simplicity and the ethereal quality of it. I was also touched by Tracey's connection to Kipling, the cat, and wanted to honor that in some way. I gave Kipling wings, imagining that perhaps after passing, he looked up to the bird as a wonderful teacher instead of its next meal... or maybe both!
This piece was first pyrographed on solid pine, and then painted with acrylics. I then finished it off with a protective coat of varnish and wire for hanging.
