This is my Rip for the Annual Ripped Off Show 2006
of John Penfold's many landscapes of the Irish countryside. The more I studied Ireland terrain in John's paintings the more my mind came back to the focus of sheep and their importance. The background is influenced by all of the fields with the focus of the shearing up close and indignant being shorn for the wool of which Ireland is so famous.
John's paintings are of blue skies, clouds, and fields of herds of sheep or hay that is being harvasted. I feel that I have learned a lot about a country that I have never visited but have a sense of the beauty John sees everyday. Below are the painting's that were the inspiration.
