Art: The Woman Who Loved Horses by Artist Lisa J. Rough
This piece had been stewing in my brain for a good long while. It is inspired by my six year old daughter and her amazing love and connection to horses, mostly one in particular, named Cherokee. I wanted to portray the trust that is between the two of them, and the wildness that seeps through her heart when she rides him. If you knew my daughter, you'd know that this is an enormous stretch for her, for she has always been rather timid and afraid to try new things.. but horses somehow tickle her spirit. This piece is pyrographed (woodburned) onto solid pine, and then painted with mostly watered down acrylic paints. I finished it off with a strong coat of protective varnish and wire for hanging.
