I did this piece in the early Spring of 2007 after a rough sketch while sitting in front of the Superstition Mountains a landmark here in Arizona, and another landmark is the State flower which comes from the Saguaro Cactus tree, a sacred cactus which is illigal to remove, cut, damage, any part of this tree, they grow all in different shapes, and some are hundreds years old and have a mighty story to tell about the early days of rustic cowboys, and cow hands, the prairies and the Indians, can you imagine, besides the beautiful yellow white flowers that resemble a chrysanthimum, these trees hold homes for birds and rodents, snacks, and nutrition, they have spurs and spikes of course like any other cactus, and are known for their
traditinal shapes. They are distinct and no two are alike.
