The Meadow Violet is our state flower in New Jersey. I had to add our state bird, the Goldfinch and our state insect, the Honey Bee. Judging by our birdfeeders the Goldfinch is thriving . I know that the Meadow Violet is also doing well since it likes to show up wherever it finds an empty spot in the garden. This is a charming little flower that is one of the earliest little plants in the garden. I am not sure but I think that it is probably a native plant, it is one of the hardiest little flowers in the garden. Now the honey bee is another story altogether.....the honey bees are in big trouble in the United States if there isnt a cure for what is destroying our hives our crops will be severly affected.
