
I loved working on this painting because of the delicate quality of the subject matter. Working on Arches 140 lb cold press paper, I centered the Cyclamen and let it sort of "float" along with the triangular cloth it sat on.. I drew it in pencil first, which I usually do with watercolors, and I like the detail in the flowers with pencil lines left in tact and not erased.. It adds a crispness to the flowers that I think it needed to offset the black base it sits on.
