I added a page from "The Scarlet Letter" by Nathaniel Hawthorne for the background for this original painting. I then painted the nude Hester Prynne with the scarlet letter A on her chest and also gave her a heart tattoo. Of course in the book she had the A embroidered on her clothing but I thought this was more appropriate. Butterfly wings, a vintage postage stamp and a swallow cut from a book of 18th century bird paintings.
One of a kind mixed-media painting, not a print or copy. Signed and dated on front, signed, dated and titled on back.
