When I became a grandmother at 50 I started to really look at the way in which grandmothers and older women in general were depicted. I wasn't crazy about what I saw. I knew that many others in this boomer generation must have similiar reactions. I set out to create my own vision of the variety of women, their manner, clothing, style and life choices. This is how my "Moonchild is a Grandma, Now" series began. It has been a great joy for me to see the reactions of so many women, some actually thank me for giving them a more realistic look. This is the fifth sculpture that I have created in this vein. She is seated on a leopard cushioned iron chair. She is wearing black linen pants, a deep teal silk tunic and a mirrored vest. Her hair is wild and silver and she has glass drop earrings. Her nails are painted bright red. I love her and hope you do too!
