Whenever I get a bit of "artists block" I like to jumpstart my creativity by creating a few collages. The action of looking through my vintage books, photos and magazines always inspires me.

This collage has a base of different papers which I then applied a light coat of white paint. The little girl is actually a photograph of me playing a toy drum at my grandmother's house. I added the birds because our family are inveterate bird watchers. The words I wrote on the drum are from one of my favorite Linda Ronstadt songs. I always felt an affinity for the lyrics.

This piece is coated with acrylic varnish for protection from fading and wear.
